How to Use Salt Free Steak Rub
There are two schools of thought when it comes to seasoning steak: salt before, or salt after (or no salt at all if you are on a sodium-restricted diet!). Rubs that use salt draw out moisture from the meat. Given time (at least an hour, preferably more), some of the moisture and flavor of the rub is pulled back into the meat.
Salting after cooking, or not salting at all, keeps all the original moisture of the cut inside the meat. Our salt-free rub is made to accompany meat cooked this way by adding the flavor of smoky chipotle chilis along with a host of savory and sweet flavors to the crust of the meat. Add as much salt you desire at any point in the cooking process.

We use hand-blended chipotle powder, garlic, sugar, cumin, black pepper, onion, mustard powder, paprika, and thyme to make our rub.
