How to Use Hatch Red Chili Powder
Use in enchilada sauce recipes, add to pots of chili, dust atop huevos rancheros, or make a classic New Mexico red sauce for recipes such as carne adovada.
How to Make Quick and Easy Hatch Red Chili Sauce
Mix about four tablespoons of our Hatch Red Chili Powder with one cup of water and set aside. In a pan, heat a teaspoon of oil and then add a teaspoon of flour and a dash of onion powder, garlic powder, and cumin. Heat on medium until the mixture turns bubbly and stir in the water and chili mixture, stirring constantly.
Return to a boil, then simmer covered for a few minutes. Let the sauce thicken off of heat and stir in salt.
Note our Hatch powder does not contain any artificial ingredients or anti-caking agents. There will be some natural caking in the powder due to high natural moisture content.
